Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Chronograph Quantième Annuel

After the success of the Heritage Chronométrie collection at the last SIHH Montblanc adds two new models. One is this annual calendar based on one of the first Minerva chronographs from the 1920s. For the laymen among you: the renowned Minerva manufacture in Villeret has been in Montblanc hands for many years. It is the first time in this line that Montblanc combines an annual calendar with a chronograph.

Citizen acquires Frédérique Constant: the rising sun buys a rising star

The Genevan based independent maison with Dutch roots, Frederique Constant, is now a Genevan based brand of the Citizen Watch Co. The sporty brand Alpina and the high-end and very limited creations of Ateliers DeMonaco are also in Japanese hands now. Frederique Constant Holding was founded in 1988 by Peter and Aletta Stas. The company produces traditional timepieces at an affordable price level and became very successful with that strategy.

All this and other world problems seem to not really bother any of the watch brands presented on the luxurious Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. Champagne was poured, smiles were big and parties were held for the carefully selected members of the world press and retailers.
